About Me

Cassandra Zaruba has called the Baltimore/Washington area home for most of her life.  She currently resides in Howard County, Maryland with her husband and two cats.  She has two brothers, one who lives in Florida and the other who lives with her father and stepmother in Littlestown, Pennsylvania.  As a 2004 graduate from UMBC, she is well versed in literary arts.  Cassie has been writing stories ever since she could pick up a pen.  Her first "novel"--a 72 page story about Hollywood Hair BarbieŽ and her friends--was written at age eleven.  All her short stories and novels are first written by hand, then later typed, with the exception of her novella "Of the Six Million," which was typed on a 1920's typewriter.  She does editorial work for a scientific journal in the Washington DC area.  When she's not working or writing novels, Ms. Zaruba enjoys the outdoors, camping, swimming, reading, bowling, and hanging out with her husband, Mike.  SHE DOES NOT LIKE PEAS!

Some of Cassie's favorite books: Ratha's Creature (Clare Bell), Catcher in the Rye (Salinger), Night (Elie Wiesel), As I Lay Dying and Sanctuary (Faulkner), the Outlander series (Diana Gabaldon), Hunger (Knut Hamsun), Factotum (Charles Bukowski), Sophie's Choice (William Styron), Survival in Auschwitz (Primo Levi)
