About Me

Cassandra Zaruba has called the Baltimore/Washington area home for most of her life.  She currently resides in Howard County, Maryland with her husband, two cats, and a dog.  As a 2004 graduate of UMBC, she spent much of her college career studying literature.  Cassie has been writing stories ever since she could pick up a pen.  Her first "novel"--a 72 page story about Hollywood Hair Barbie and her friends--was written at age eleven.  All her short stories and novels are first written by hand, then later typed, with the exception of her novella "Of the Six Million," which was typed on a 1920's typewriter.  She does editorial work for a scientific journal in the Washington DC area.  When she's not working or writing novels, Cassie enjoys the outdoors, camping, swimming, reading, bowling, and hanging out with her husband, Mike.  SHE DOES NOT LIKE PEAS!

Some of Cassie's favorite books: Ratha's Creature (Clare Bell), Catcher in the Rye (Salinger), Night (Elie Wiesel), As I Lay Dying and Sanctuary (Faulkner), the Outlander series (Diana Gabaldon), Hunger (Knut Hamsun), Factotum (Charles Bukowski), Sophie's Choice (William Styron), Survival in Auschwitz (Primo Levi)
